Process a fictional project meeting with Granola: produce notes with the default and with your own template, measure both against a 13-point answer key, and produce a human-approved decision log.
Granola is an AI meeting-notes tool that transcribes from the computer's microphone and system audio - it sends no bot into the call. In this exercise you process a 6-8 minute project meeting of the fictional LumenLab Learning Workshop. The point is not for the AI to pay attention on your behalf: you examine how a conversation becomes a readable memo, an unambiguous decision log, a task list with owners and deadlines, a list of open questions, and a verified follow-up e-mail. You produce two versions of the notes from the same meeting: the first with Granola's default summary, the second with your own template. You measure both against a 13-point answer key, correct the errors, then decide which would serve the team better. The conversation deliberately contains proposals that are later overridden - the question is whether the AI recognises which one became the final decision.
In this exercise you learn: how to request and record consent for AI processing of a conversation; how short manual key notes help the AI summary; how to measure an AI note's accuracy with an answer key, error types and a weighted error score; how to write your own template that forbids invention and handles overridden proposals separately; how to question the meeting's content while demanding evidence; why the chat's output must be checked exactly like the note; and who is responsible for approving a decision log.
Warning: Cost protection: Granola's plans and interface can change. As of September 2026, the Basic plan is free and offers meeting notes, AI chat, shared folders and custom templates. Notes older than 30 days may be retained but not necessarily accessible on Basic. If the system asks for a payment method, stop.
Warning: If a checkpoint fails, stop. A handsome summary is worth nothing if it names the wrong owner or deadline.
